Not sure if white sand is an option. But if it is, that can be obtained from one of the pool supply companies. I believe Anthony on our Facebook group purchased his white pool filter sand from a company near Leamington.
Well, this price is a little less.... 26.50 for a 20lb bag delivered to your door.
Nature's Ocean Aragonite Gravel#4 20LBS (Grain size: 1.7-2.5mm). Premium Aragonite Reef Substrate for aquariums reduces Nitrates and Maintains pH. Ideal for reef system tank bottoms, denitrifying anaerobic beds, extremely high surface area filter media. For Best Results Use as Follows: Pre-washed Minimum Rinse Required.
Have you considered using Oyster Shells and mixing with another substrate? I'm assuming you're hoping to increase pH or hardness for African cichlids or CA cichlids. You can purchase crushed oyster shells at TSC stores. There's one in Essex that I visited to buy 50lb bag for $16.
