TANK: 75G SUBSTRATE: Eggcrate to support and distribute rock structure. (Will add crushed Oyster shell possibly mixed with Pool filter sand) DECORATIONS: Limestone and other inert rocks. FILTRATION: ATI Hydro-Sponge Pro V Sponge Filter x1 and Ista Sponge Filter (Large) x1 LIGHTING: MARINELAND® LED Aquarium Light Bar COVER: Glass Cover (to prevent evaporation) HEATER: Aqueon 150Watt Heater (this is small heater but I have heat in the basement so it should maintain things nicely) FISHES: Labidochromis sp. "Mbamba", Aulonocara maylandi (Sulpherhead Peacock), Melanochromis chipokae, Melanochromis auratus and Telmatochromis vittatus
This tank is very much a catch-all tank for now. The various species will be spread out amongst different tanks once I have all of my larger tanks setup. It may eventually become a Hap or Mbuna tank. At the moment I'm just hoping most of these species are disease free and will make it past a quarantine period.
Slight update on the fish in this 75G Mixed African Cichlid Tank. At present I'm keeping Melanochromis chipokae, Telmatochromis vittatus, Labidochromis sp. "Mbamba" and Metriaclima sp. "Elongatus Chewere.
The Tel. vittatus will eventually join a Mixed Tang Tank in the coming month or so. The Lab. mbamba and the Met. elongates are primarily living in this aquarium to gain size. I intend to sell the Mel. chipokae as I prefer smaller fishes and these guys have quite some size to them. At present, the Mbamba are gaining size and looking like they should be ready to spawn soon.
Here's what the Labidochromis sp. "Mbamba" look like as adults. Mine look like this now though they are on their way to becoming adults.
